Dogen-Sangha-Frankfurt

 
 We are an open group in the tradition of Dogen Sangha,
 founded by Nishijima Roshi in Tokyo. We practice
 Shikantaza (just sitting) and study Dogen Zenjis’s
 teachings under guidance of Yudo J. Seggelke Roshi.
 

 Zazen-Practice:
 Every Friday from 7 pm to 8.30 pm.
 If there is no meeting we will announce it on the
 first page of www.dogen-sangha-frankfurt.de .

 We have three sitting periods of 25 minutes followed
 by 5 minutes of Kinhin. At the end we recite
 a buddhist poem.
 

Breakthrough with the brush

Calligraphy-Seminar
with
 Kazuaki Tanahashi

 

 In this calligraphy-seminar we will study the ten laws
 of breakthroughs using traditional ink and brushes. We
 will also experience kanji-painting in colour.
 This course will be run in English language with
 German translation.

 Sesshin with Brad Warner 
 August 21st - 23rd, 2009

  Brad Warner, leader of Dogen Sangha
  International, will have a sesshin in
  Germany for the first time. This event
  will be run in English language only
  and give all interested people the
  opportunity to practice zazen and
  receive buddhist teachings.
 
 


 Brad Warner who got Dharma-Transmission from Gudo W.
 Nishijima Roshi will give four lectures about buddhism in the
 tradition of great Master Dogen Zenji of the 13th century. Arising
 questions will be answered in the group or in personal talks.

 Every interested person is warmly invited to participate.

 Brad Warner is a Zen-priest, Japanese monster movie maven,
 and former punk rock bassist. He melds the antiauthoritarianism
 of punk with the antiauthorianism of Zen, challenging orthodoxy
 and questioning everything. He says Zen practice and philosophy
 provides the only truly rational and realistic way to live a balanced
 and happy life.
  
 He teaches Zen in Santa Monica and writes a monthly column for
 Suicidegirls.com. His website is hardcorezen.blogspot.com.
 He is the author of Hardcore Zen, Sit Down and Shut Up and
 Zen Wrapped in KarmaDipped in Chocolate.

 Accomodation: We will stay in 8 - 20 person rooms (or in the large
 Buddha Hall of Pagode Phat Hue), mattrasses are available,
 please bring own sleeping-bag. Vegetarian food.
 Location: As there are so many interested participants we will run
 this event in a vietnamese buddhist Temple Pagode Phat Hue.

 We ask for an advance payment of 25 € to make the reservation for
 participation. Please ask for a SEPA-EU-transfer.
 If you have to cancel after the registration-deadline, we will keep
 25 € for expenses, if you have to cancel before this we will keep
 10 € and send the rest back to you.
